Linda Niemeyer, PhD, OTR/L

Dr. Niemeyer began a career as an occupational therapist in Southern California in 1973. Over a span of more than 25 years, she practiced in the areas of pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation, work injury prevention and management, and wheelchair mobility. She was also active in the American Occupational Therapy Association and part of a grass roots movement to improve the evaluation and treatment of workers with injuries. After receiving her Ph.D., Dr. Niemeyer completed and published a pilot study that investigated a method of measuring muscle fatigue in the shoulders of manual wheelchair users via sophisticated electromyographic recording.

Throughout her career, she has published several articles in refereed journals, a book, and a number of book chapters. As a reviewer for a professional journal, she provided constructive feedback to aspiring writers. Dr. Niemeyer has also lectured to health care professionals throughout the United States and in Canada, Australia, and Mexico.
